Lyrics:

Barely heard the wind say her name through the trees It was just a whisper breath so cold she could barely feel it Didn't know that she'd fall, a not so distant memory But that night she turned and listened Hear the calling a wolf howling at the moon No more stalling the adventure of pursuit Time to follow a message only meant for you Hear it calling Hear the calling I told her that I would only stay If we took the time away so we could bond again and then be happy but then she told me to listen to the words of the calling Hear the calling a wolf howling at the moon No more stalling the adventure of pursuit Time to follow a message only meant for you Hear it calling Hear the calling Hear the calling a wolf howling at the moon No more stalling the adventure of pursuit Time to follow a message only meant for you Hear it calling Hear the calling And I know of the calling And I know I should listen But it doesn’t feel right No, it doesn’t feel quite right And I know that this has happened And I know that it’ll all work out but All I want is to be All I want is to be clear that you are not the problem Hear it calling Hear the calling Hear it calling Hear the calling Hear it calling Hear the calling Hear it calling Hear the calling Hear the calling a wolf howling at the moon No more stalling the adventure of pursuit Time to follow a message only meant for you Hear it calling Hear the calling Hear the calling a wolf howling at the moon No more stalling the adventure of pursuit Time to follow a message only meant for you Hear it calling Hear the calling

Story:

As I sat down to write "Hear The Calling," I couldn't help but reflect on those early days of the pandemic. It was a turbulent time, and I found myself working closely with a family struggling to cope with the sudden changes brought on by the crisis. One of their children, overwhelmed by the closure of schools, the isolation from friends, and the inability to do simple things like dine out or leave the house, channeled their frustrations onto me. It reached a breaking point, and I had to step away from my work for a couple of weeks. It was then that my sister stepped in to help, and I finally had a moment to process my own emotions and experiences during this unprecedented time. The lyrics of "Hear The Calling" encapsulate the feelings that swirled within me during those days. The opening lines, "Barely heard the wind say her name through the trees, It was just a whisper breath, so cold she could barely feel it," evoke the sense of isolation and uncertainty we all felt. The song conveys the idea of being drawn towards something, a calling, in the midst of chaos. It's a reminder that sometimes we need to take a step back, listen to our inner voice, and follow our own path. The chorus, with its repeated call to "Hear the calling," resonates with the inner struggle I faced during that time. I had made a promise to stay and support, but I also needed to take a break to find clarity and happiness within myself. The conflicting emotions and the feeling that I was not the problem are expressed through the lines, "And I know of the calling, And I know I should listen, But it doesn’t feel right, No, it doesn’t feel quite right." In the end, "Hear The Calling" became not just a song about that challenging period during the pandemic, but also a reminder of the importance of self-care, self-discovery, and staying true to oneself, even when faced with overwhelming circumstances.
