Maxwell is the creator of the Obscure Sorrows Project and Forever Pink. His passion for music is evident in his work. He continues to create and produce music that inspires and uplifts his fans.

Obscure Sorrows is the brainchild of Maxwell Mandell. His independent musical endeavors started in 2018 with an album based on “The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows,” a dictionary of different emotions that don’t have real words to describe them. Maxwell used words from this “dictionary” and wrote songs based on how he felt about those words. Eventually, it became a whole album’s-worth of songs, which were never set to be distributed.

The original name of the project was “Obscure Sorrows,” but Maxwell felt that was unoriginal and released it as “Kairo” in 2021. Kairo is a Greek derivative meaning “the most opportune moment.” Maxwell felt that finishing it mid-pandemic and releasing it would give him a good project to work on while everything else in his life was up in the air. This then started the next chapter of his musical endeavor, the “Obscure Sorrows Project.” Maxwell has been working on new music, creating a unique sound that blends different genres and styles. His music is inspired by his love of literature, art, and philosophy.

“Obscure Sorrows Project” (“OSP”) was what he likes to call “the second chapter of musical endeavors.” It began with Maxwell's first self-recorded and produced album which was composed as an approach to self-expression and self-awareness. Each release that has followed is an extension of his primary focus to create communities around art and to advocate for telling your own story.  Maxwell has distributed four releases under this name, starting with “Curses and Invocations” in early 2021. OSP's music is a fusion of different genres and styles, with influences ranging from classic rock to contemporary indie. The project is a reflection of Maxwell's passion for music and his desire to create something that speaks to people on a deeper level. 

Forever Pink is the latest chapter in the musical endeavors of Maxwell Mandell, a talented musician and songwriter who is dedicated to helping young artists find their own voice. After taking a break from music, Maxwell is back and better than ever, creating and writing his own music that reflects his approach to self-expression and self-awareness through the use of music and other creative media.

In addition to making music, Maxwell also teaches piano and songwriting to young artists, guiding them on how to express themselves and find their own unique voice. Forever Pink is a reflection of Maxwell's passion for helping others find their own creative voice, and the forthcoming alternative series of releases is being created in collaboration with members of his arts-based community.

Forever Pink is a rhythmic invitation to join the conversation and tell your own story. With a mix of genres from heavy rock to ambient soundscapes, the expressively explorative release sweeps across the tonal palette, consistently shifting in style and tone with anchoring on evocatively composed melodies and cinematic flair.

The monolithic multi-volume music series, Forever Pink, is currently in production and Volume 1 ("Welcome To Forever Pink") is now out on all steaming platforms. This highly anticipated release is a testament to Maxwell's creative vision and his dedication to helping others find their own unique voice through the power of music.
